Effective large trap for rats.
They did actually work!!! They were easy to set up, with instructions on how to bait and set. But be very careful as the force of closure is very strong. It releases/closes to a loud noise. These were delivered 21st May 2025 and put down on the same day. Today 2nd June 2025 at 6.45pm the rat took the bait (a commercial rat & mouse paste) and it was a quick end, no suffering. So it took approximately 12 days for rat to actually become accustomed to the trap. This was a rat and a big one!!! I thought it was a mouse and used smaller traps which were of course not big enough and were just set off. So decided to get the largest trap available. This trap is 20cm long and has a10cm wide opening. As can be seen from the pictures it was quite a large rat approximately 20cm long without its very long tail!! I heard the snap of the trap and was aghast to see how big it actually was. It is a case of being patient as I found out. I did actually think the rat was not interested and was not going to work, as there were indications it had gone around the trap and past it. I did use the gloves provided to set the trap as advised by other customers, to avoid human scent transfer. I am so glad this trap has actually caught the rodent. I can highly recommend these for rats. They are strongly built and robust, made from strong thick, rigid plastic. The trap closes with a strong force and thus avoids suffering. The price point I believe is value for money for two large traps and a set of gloves.

Kills rats quick & clean
Easy to bait and operate and these robust traps really work. I baited mine with feta cheese and peanut butter. Trapped and killed 2 rat I was a bit worried that there might still be some life in the rats when I removed them from the traps but no, both clean kills sorry to report, also killed1 hedgehog. Then I got a terrier who has seen off the rest of the rats. The traps are easier and cheaper to use than a dog. The traps are safer than poison but wouldn’t recommend their use if your land has a lot of other rat sized wildlife or even cats

Good strong sturdy traps
Very sturdy traps and easy to set. Never caught anything as appears the rats were a bit clever and ate bits of the bait from underneath the pressure plate. Would be better if the pressure plate sat flat down rather than slightly raised. Traps went off but never caught anything...was hoping to see rat mcratty caught... however, caught the dirty rat with additional bait grains, so I won in the end!

Beware of the spring trap
Excellent!! Caught the bugger within an hourReally strong spring so watch out as you could have bait you had not intended . Well impressed

Get metal traps as these "toughened plastic" traps are Rubbish!!
Absolute rubbish!! The squirrels I got these to catch soon worked out they could get to the peanut butter I'd set in the bait holder out of it without setting it off by going round the back and chewing the plastic away!!

Sporadically effective
These are ok, they’re a cheap multipack at a similar price point to a single device from a local DIY store. When testing them they certainly go off with an aggressive thwack, that being said I don’t think they’re overly sensitive and a street-wise rat would be able to sneak a tasty treat without triggering the trap. Our success rate is quite low. Some evenings they’ve been triggered but not caught anything…maybe I have particularly clever rats. Sadly the resident rodents are now wise to the traps and no amount of treats can tempt them to put their head over the deadly threshold.
